We are right smack in the middle of Scorpio Season — and Scorpio is the sign of transformation, emotional intensity, and exploring our shadows.

One of Scorpio’s gifts is its sting: Scorpio will unearth our deepest wounds and sting them again and again…until they don’t hurt any more.

This probably sounds horrible, lol (unless, like me, you have a lot of Scorpio in your chart…then you’ll be like, “Um, the pain of transformation is the point of life. Let’s get comfy and enjoy the ride.”).

In truth, the process doesn’t need to be so painful. There are powerful allies that can help us make the most of this dark season with grace and courage.

Here are a few of my favorite spirit animals and deities for shadow work below. If you’d like to work with these allies more deeply, I’ve created beautiful natural perfumes in sacred ceremony for each one. Subscribers get a discount on the dark allies this month! Scroll down :)

Bat

Bat is one of my favorite allies for shadow work.

I loooooove bats. Adorable, furry friends who eat up annoying insects and fly? They are the best.

And you know what bats are really, really good at? Navigating the dark.

Vespertillia is a botanical perfume dedicated to the spirit of Bat. It’s a fruity floral perfume, with notes of precious oud, night-blooming jasmine, and blood orange.

Kind words about Vesperillia: “This scent is dark and mysterious in the best way. Beautifully crafted.”

Jaguar

If you see a jaguar in the wild, it’s because it wants to be seen. Jaguar is quiet, stealthy, and traverses dark jungle terrain with ease.

Jaguar spirit animal can help us explore our own inner jungles, and this is the energy contained in Jaguar botanical perfume.

The scent of musky fur mingles with wet earth, fragrant jasmine and kewda, black frankincense, sandalwood attar, and exotic spices in this all natural perfume.

I love this review of Jaguar: “I can almost feel the family of big cats in the room with me when I use this!”

Dragon

A spirit both revered and feared in cultures throughout the world, Dragon is a powerful ally for shadow work, helping us unearth the inner gold hidden in our depths.

And Dragon's botanical perfume is a powerful blend up for the task. Saffron and rose rest upon a subtle smokey base, infused with true dragonsblood resin. A rich perfume worthy of the treasures Dragon guards.

Odin

The Norse all-father Odin encourages us to embrace our own quest for knowledge and to constantly seek wisdom in all its forms, urging us to explore the depths of our minds and the world around us.

Odin’s perfume invites you into his mysterious realms, where wisdom and mystery dance upon a decadent feast of indulgence. Rich cognac, oak, and tobacco are grounded with earth and wood, elevated with a touch of sweet spice.

Inanna

A sacred ally for all women, Inanna helps us become whole.

Said to embody the planet Venus, known for her descent into the underworld, Ishtar is both sensual and defiant. She knows her worth, and this perfume will help you remember yours.

Aged woods line the temple entrance to the underworld, the aroma of sandalwood and fragrant smoke rising to meet you. Adorned with roses, you enter the chamber of secrets—and emerge the embodiment of Venus.

Kind words about Inanna: “I have this one from you, it is exquisite. Using it in one of the rituals in my upcoming women's Egypt pilgrimage. Infact, using 3 of yours at different sites. It's always hard to choose, your blends are so special.”

Persephone

Like Inanna, the Greek Goddess Persephone also claimed her fullness and power in the dark.

While she’s often known as as the goddess of spring, I often feel Persephone’s presence most in the winter — when, far from being abducted, she chooses to enter the shadows of the underworld to rule as Queen.

A goddess at home both in the depths of Hades and in the fertile growth of spring, Persephone’s perfume balances deep, earthy moss with fragrant spring florals.

No matter where she is residing, Persephone never loses her regal status and inner worth―her perfume can help you remain connected to your truth as you navigate your own cycles through the dark.

Kind words about Persephone: “Persephone's fragrance is beautiful and luscious. Flowers and trees combine to create a scent that is complex and works with my chemistry almost magically.”

Poison Plants for Transformation

If you’re drawn to shadow work, that super-fun process of illuminating and integrating the hidden parts of yourself, poison plants are your greatest allies.

only the dose makes the poison

Fortunately, you DO NOT NEED TO CONSUME poison plants in order to receive their medicine.

Communicating with the living plant, spirit to spirit, is a powerful way to engage with their wisdom.

And ingesting the flower essence brings the vibrational, energetic, and spiritual gifts of our poison kin into our own being, where we can integrate and benefit from all they have to offer.

These essences will bring to light whatever lurks in your shadows. It’s an intense process, but a necessary one if you’re committed to becoming your whole, authentic, and powerful self in this lifetime.

And remember — our shadows don’t only hold the parts of ourselves that we fear…they also hold buried treasures and our greatest gifts for the world.

Many poison plant essences have long relationships with witches and other practitioners of the magical arts. As such, they know exactly how to help us see beyond veils of illusion, communicate with other realms, and manifest our desires into physical form.

I’ve been working with poison plants for many years now, and I’d love share my favorites with you in a very special Poison Plant Flower Essence Kit. (Paid Subscribers get a discount on this kit, too — scroll down!)

This kit contains seven magically potent poison plant essences (well, one is technically a mushroom) selected to support deep transformation, shadow work, and magic making.

The Poison Plant Kit includes essences of:

  • Datura—for intuition, sovereignty, and dreamwork

  • Wolfsbane—for shadow work and integration

  • Poison Hemlock—for releasing toxins and resetting your nervous system

  • Foxglove—for bringing your full heart to this work

  • Death Camas—for releasing what no longer serves

  • False Hellebore—for facing fears and resistance

  • Amanita Muscaria—for magical and shamanic arts

These essences are vibrational in nature and highly diluted from first contact, so absolutely no poison or toxicity is found in any poison plant essence. Get your kit here:
