Thresholds are upon us.
You can feel this, right?
It’s the time of year, of course. But it’s also the Earth. Humanity. The sense that we are living through something more pivotal than we can name.
A collective threshold.
There’s hope in the field. The knowing that our darkness can’t continue. That a more beautiful reality is possible, if only we can all wake each other up and create it.
And there’s despair. The witnessing of backwards movements. Frustration that this hope blinds the pain of the present. Fear that the collective has begun to think the ends justify the means.
From the autumn equinox to winter solstice, the Earth invites us to release, rest, and attune to new frequencies as we walk through many thresholds:
The equinox (September 22) was our first major threshold into the dark — made extra potent with the solar eclipse (September 21) this year.
Samhain, All Hallow’s Eve, and Dia de Los Muertos — the end of October and first days of November point us to the great threshold from life to afterlife.
Our descent to the darkest night of the year aligns with our progression to the end of the calendar year — on every level, we’re invited to assess and release, to create space for what will be born within us as the light returns.
Just like the trees losing their leaves, we too are asked to let go before we cross any threshold.
But generally speaking, humans aren’t great at this process…
Letting go means change. Crossing a threshold means entering the unknown. Both involve surrendering control.
And on the deepest levels of our subconscious, our human programming tells us that this is the most dangerous thing we could do.
Yet to resist our thresholds is to resist the natural unfolding of life. So how do we cross in a good way? How do we flow with life’s creative cycles?
We release and attune. And releasing happens naturally when we attune to the goodness of the field we’re crossing into.
Field Medicine
To attune the field of energy and potential beyond the threshold…We get quantum ;) We merge with the frequency of allies who exist beyond chronos time and live in kairos time.
Rather than stepping through a threshold in fear, forcing ourselves through a difficult release process, we can attune to what’s already true on the other side of that threshold, allowing the crossing to unfold with greater ease and alignment.
This attunement goes beyond the mind. It’s more than visualizing a good outcome or writing in your journal. It’s a shift in your beingness. You don’t control it. It happens on your behalf, almost effortlessly.
The process happens beautifully through sacred aromatics: We become attuned to new fields of reality through the frequency of the oils.
Aroma is field medicine.
Imagine opening a bottle of your favorite essential oil. Your body fills with the fragrance when you breathe in. The room around you becomes filled with the aroma and frequency of the plant.
Aroma is so pervasive, so potently attuned to frequency, that it shifts the entire field of energy around it.
Now imagine that this field becomes attuned to the next phase of a soul’s journey.
Instead of getting lost, stuck in fear, or resistant to what’s next, the soul becomes gently attuned to the next field of their evolution.
This is the power of plants and aromatics in psychopomp work.
Plants are literal bridges between worlds.
Just like us, they have physical bodies, energetic frequencies, and divine soul essence.
But unlike us, they aren’t bogged down with the forgetting we experience upon incarnation.
This makes plants amazing allies for navigating the crossing from this realm to the next…
A Call to Tending: Guardians of the Thresholds
To become a guide of souls and tender of thresholds is a sacred calling. And it’s one that is so very needed in these wild times.
This is the work of a psychopomp.
A psychopomp helps the dying and the dead — but they do so much more.
They tend the collective thresholds we all must cross.
When wildfire strikes, the psychopomp offers blessings of safe passage for the lives of the wild ones. When trauma impacts the land, the psychopomp offers balancing and clearing. When the Earth becomes crowded with lost souls, the psychopomp offers a way back home.
This is big, necessary work. Do you feel the call?

I’ve taught this course many times, and it’s always changing and evolving as my own work changes and evolves. A lovely testimonial from last year’s course:
“As always, Juniper teaches with a finesse and ease that betrays her depth of wisdom in shamanic arts and her acute sense of what her students need to be able to learn this material deeply. It is a pleasure to learn from her. Juniper takes a practice that in today’s culture may seem more obscure or outdated and shares easy to follow and easily digestible packets of knowledge that prove profound and unbelievably relevant. She renders ancient wisdom into accessible skills that serve the intention of personal and collective healing. What a gift!”

Are You Called to the Art of Psychopomp?
I know for a lot of folks, this word alone is like a lighthouse — you hear it and just know you are meant to walk this path.
Others might be a little unclear…is this necessary? With everything else going on in my life, do I need this too?
I think most people can benefit from learning psychopomp skills — especially the plant work ones I teach in this course. Here’s a peek at what you can do with these skills:
Provide comfort to the dying with sacred scents that ease the passage + spirit skills
Assist with pet crossings — helping humans navigate difficult decisions, honor animal life, and cope with grief
Facilitate land healings — by tending wildlife and grief around loss of wild places and species
Raise the frequency of the planet — by helping lost souls and dense energies return to the light
Navigate thresholds with grace — not just from physical to beyond, but endings of dreams, life phases, relationships, and more
This is such big, important work. The more humans who can carry the mantle of psychopomp in a good way, the more all humans, and all life, will benefit.
If you ever feel…
The presence of a suffering being or ghost…
The call toward ancestral healing…
The heartfelt wish to be of spiritual service to the land…
The desire to ease the suffering of those around you…
The knowing that you are meant to tend life’s thresholds with grace and wisdom…
Then you are primed for training in psychopomp.
You can read a lot more about this upcoming training, but we start soon so here are some brass tacks for good measure:
Here’s an overview of how I teach about death, dying, and psychopomp from alchemical perspectives:
Thresholds: places where a soul hesitates or becomes stuck
Waiting rooms: energetic spaces where souls in need can rest before a crossing
Anchors: family stories, trauma, and unresolved vows that tether a soul to the world
Allywork: which plants, oils, and element-based practices help unfasten those anchors and facilitate good crossings.
Here’s a bit about what you’ll learn over the course of our 6-weeks:
Cross-cultural cosmologies around death, dying, and funerary rites
How to meet spirits safely and on your own terms
Working with the elements to ease and balance life-death passages
Identifying suffering beings and helping them find safe passage
What the psychopomp role looks like in practice — and how to hold that role ethically
Plants allies for death, dying, and soul healing
Creating a “waiting room” for lost souls so you aren’t bombarded at inopportune moments
Boundary and protection practices
Grief tending
Anointing rituals for threshold crossings
Probably a whole lot more — based on the needs of this year’s cohort
There are other psychopomp trainings out there — but I don’t think anyone is teaching the unique combination of shamanic skills and sacred anointing that you’ll learn in this class…because I’ve created this approach myself. ;)
We begin tomorrow. I’m going to leave registration open for one more week (unless class fills…just a couple spots left).
All live classes are recorded so if you need to miss tomorrow…or any class, it’s no problem :)
This is such beautiful work, and this is the perfect time of year to do it.
Hope to see you in class.
Still wondering if this is right for you?
Here’s what past students have said…(I think my Virgo placements help, hehe)
Juniper’s degree of organization boggles the mind!!!
My intuition has expanded even more and my ability to connect to my own clients in my work has deepened.
I have a renewed sense of purpose, confidence and energy. Even though I’m not practiced in what I’m doing, exactly...I feel set upon my path.
Discovering an entity I suspected had been there for some time and removing it with my guides, or more accurately watching my guides handle it as I tried to stay centered, was transformative.
I have enjoyed working with my psychopomp guide and feeling like I have support for this work. I see how powerful he is and am grateful to lean into and trust his guidance.
If something within you is saying, this is for you, let this be the nudge you need:
I’m not planning on offering this as a live training next year, so now is your chance to participate in a small, live cohort with personal feedback.
You can’t find the plant work and anointing practices anywhere else.
It’s okay if you can’t come to live calls – you can email questions and watch replays.
You get lifetime access to the recordings (1 year in our course platform + ability to download and keep)
You will become a better healer, leave with practical skills, and very likely experience a deepening of your spiritual path
