Earth Healing Collection
For Beltane, a round up of articles that explore our human-nature relationships.
Beltane soon arrives, inviting us into the growing light of the verdant Earth. While my own Celtic ancestors probably weren’t reading the Hellenistic zodiac, I’m still delighted by the syncretic perfection that this cross-quarter holiday falls during Taurus season.
Taurus, the yin, Earthy expression of Venus, grounds us into the sensual pleasures of spring’s pull towards summer. Like milk from the sacred cow, the Earth now promises to nurture our bodies and souls with her abundance. The cow goddess Hathor, who among her many attributes oversees ecstatic celebrations and inebriation, beacons us towards Taurean festivities of indulgence and gratitude.
Inspired by this season — and the fact that so many new subscribers have joined since these articles were first published — I wanted to share a little collection of my favorite and most meaningful articles on our relationship with the natural world.
But First, An Important Invitation
Every day since January 1 more of our public lands have been sold off to private companies so that resources we've already paid for with our taxes can be sold back to us again at higher prices, transferring the public's dwindling wealth into the pockets of already wealthy corporations.
With this constant assault on our personal power and environmental health, it can be easy to feel despair.
Yet this is when it becomes even more important to double down on our faith in each other, the Earth, and support we receive from beyond the veil.
This is when it becomes most important to commune with our more than human family in service of wellness for all beings.
Before diving into to today’s article round up, I'd like to extend a special invitation to a free workshop I'm sharing on May 8th. It's called Listening to the Land — and this is exactly what we'll do.

It may not seem like it if you spend your days enthralled by mass media, but we are in the midst of birthing a new consciousness into our collective reality.
What is Ecological Trauma, and How Might We Navigate its Pervasive Presence in Our Hearts?
I recently came across an article in the Economist, of all places, entitled, “Shamanism is Britain’s fastest-growing religion”.
Coregulating with the Natural World
In Part 1 of this series, I explored the ongoing, complex, ecological trauma that all of us experience to at least some degree. (If you have read it yet, definitely take a look here first.)

Lessons from Squirrels
When I lived in Denver, I considered three special squirrels to be my “outdoor pets”. These were city squirrels that lived in our very urban backyard.
The Magic and Medicine of Elephant's Head Flower
Elephant's Head, or Pedicularis groenlandica, is one of my favorite mountain friends. I adore the magical little purple flowers and the "elephant trunks" they display. While the beauty of this plant alone is enough to celebrate, its healing gifts bring even more blessings.
Gnome Plant & Meeting the Queen of the Underworld
One year ago, on a beautiful, sunny morning in the mountains of Oregon, I made a discovery that would expand my understanding of reality.
